What part of the drug trends PD did you find was most valuable?
What did you learn that you want to continue to explore?
What questions do you still have?
How will this PD help inform your interactions with students?

I appreciated learning about current trends and the most popular drugs that teens are using. It was helpful to learn about the chemicals and lasting effects they have on the body. It was also helpful seeing brands that hold drug references. This PD will help me to have more more educated conversations with students in the future.

In general the drug and alcohol training has informed me of new trends in use and how to identify use in more ways. Also the training has helped me to understand what type of supports our students who use (or whose family members use) might need.

While many things were previously known, I was somewhat surprised to learn more about the nature of, and sheer extents, some people will go to in order to intoxicate themselves. There was breadth and depth in the presentations. It was eye-opening and informative, particularly as a current parent of a teenager.
-Jason

I felt informed about some of the new drug trends from Lynn and from the SHP counselors. Increasing awareness will help us all be better educators for students. I do fear that we start to assume that everyone is on every drug. We do have students who are not using (but may have other things going on). Still, I found this PD valuable because more knowledge is always valuable. I want to still explore how Centennial is helping support kids to who want to reduce or stop using. I would love someone from the community (therapist or drug counselor) to come in and talk about what works to help students reduce. - Katie

I found Lynn's presentation very informative and the second session seemed to be a light version of Lynn's. I would like to learn more about how to identify our students who may be on pills and I want to explore more about our students who are drinking regularly at night. I suspect the number is larger than we think. I'm not sure exactly how it will help with students right now. I would be better equipped to answer that question once the students have had their side of the education. Then I think we could really build a protocol as to how to move in on our concerns/their behaviors. When we all start from the same place in terms of info/education, we all share the language and can have more open exchanges.

I think it was valuable to simply learn about the trends. To be aware of the trends, the terminology, the effects, the brands that support this, etc. is crucial. I like the idea from Katie about finding ways to support the students who are trying to cut back or quit. I am not sure how much this will change my interactions with the students, but at least I know how they talk about it and what to listen/look for.

Most valuable info gained was the newest trends and substances that are being used. I would like to continue gaining knowledge about how our school is handling drug policy offenders and the consequences of such behavior. Are we going to have someone talk with our students about drugs (the education of what these substances are doing to their bodies/minds)? Students are aware of the fact that we recently had a training so it has been discussed
