Visual merchandising can be hinder by safety regulations. one of these safety regulations can be weather you have a safe shop floor. spillages of water, tracked in dirt off of the bottom of shoes can lead to people falling/slipping over inside the shop therefore hindering the costs of the visual merchandising. The costs retail outlets might have to spend on fixing the problems can cost a lot of money. The use of floor mats can help reduce this problem as consumers would be walking on mats where water would soak into the mat and dirt would to.

Shop outlets need to re-enforce the shelves on to the walls and make sure they're not overcrowded. in addition to this, shopping outlets need to secure ceiling-to-floor displays and keep safe shopping to a priority. huge costs come in to the major shopping outlets as they've got a mass selection of product across a vast amount of shelves. There can also be overhead signs which aren't fastened properly which could cause a injury as well as faulty wires.

Huge problems can occur during shopping sales like black Friday can cause a high injuries. Hiring extra staff can also set back the visual merchandising as the costs going to extra staff including: security and shop guides. these extra staff are needed as they can help to maintain order, place checkout rope lines away from entrances and post signs to guide bargain seekers. Security could also be needed as fights could break out into the public if consumers couldn't get the products they wanted whereas as others did

One form of psychological Technique is knowing what interests the customer. One time where this has worked, is clothing retail shops like H&M. They're constantly throwing out seasonal products in the shop window in order to try and appeal to the consumers. Depending on the season, depends on whats in the shop window. Sometimes, H&M have discount rails within the stores. In addition to this, Other retail outlets like H&V also do they same. They also put out discounted products as well as having a discount section within the shop in order to interest the customers. This works Psychologically as it tells the customers that they can get products at a discount therefore appealing to them.

Appealing to the target market your're tying to get profit out of is also a good way of getting a profit. Making sure that the products you're putting on display are attracting and appealing to you target audience you most likely to get the market you are looking for. Appealing to the target market is a good psychological technique as it allows the shop to also get a better understanding of what the customer is interested in and what product is selling most frequently. It's also about doing research on what the target audience/market are interested in.

When using visual merchandising techniques, you must comply by the laws and regulations set by the government. If you haven't put the truthful meaning of the product you're advertising or trying to sell, you could potentially have a negative impact on the consumers, employees and even the company. The consumer protection Act is a priority when it comes to retail outlets advertising products in the shop window/ in-store. If you label a product with in-correct information, there will be massive consequences. The Prices Act is essential as retail outlets cannot discriminate on the prices of products or to lower the competition. In addition to this, retail outlets have to base each product off of their net price and not just any price.

This allows the customer to help get a better understanding of the product they're looking to purchase. In addition to this, Consumers can also hear and smell the products they're buying.
