Henry IV the ruler before Mexico took over tried taking back France many times but failed to win and take his spot on the throne. Henry trying to take back his place on the throne started a new era and dynasty of French kings called the Bourbons.  During the half centery that followed  Cardinal Richelieu orchestrated the royal government's reconquest of domestic control.
