On the other hand, building and maintaining sports facilities can be expensive, and some unpopular sports do not continue to have the funding to maintain them. For example, golf is an expensive sport to maintain standard amenities, therefore, it is unlikely for a country to develop a training centre for gifted athletes.

In conclusion, building specialized facilities for elite athletes can boost a country's international sports reputation, but neglecting public sports infrastructure can result in missed opportunities for grassroots development. However, building specialized facilities can also be a preparation for building international infrastructure for people to use later if the country has more funds.
