         <description><![CDATA[<div>A scribe is a person that was taught  to keep records They started writing by putting a wedge-shaped marks in clay. This type of writing is called cuneiform. Cuneiform comes from a Latin term that means wedge-shaped. First the scribes had to break down down the words into sounds. Then they had to find some way to represent those sounds as symbols and find a way to record it and to teach others.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Some techniques where  Irrigation/Water systems. These  water systems helped get water from far away rivers to there crops. Another technique was using the plow. They would hook the plow to the oxen so it could plow the field.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sumerians city-states developed three social classes&nbsp; and levels to be in. All of these classes meant different Ways to be treated. Slaves where the lowest level of them all and rich people lived in a high class. The had slaves&nbsp; lived in masons that they call Ziggurats. The priests had the most power though because they believed the gods spoke through them.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Evolution of writing</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>People were able to evolve writing by taking someone else writing and putting it in there way. Another way that writing was evolved was  that they put it in there way of religion. Then they made changes to it to make it look like it was there own writing they made.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Priests and Kings</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To stay in power with the priest the king needed support of the priest. According to the priest the king was sent to heaven. The kings where chosen by the gods to rule Sumer.  The priests and kings also worked together to make  holidays like new years festival. The festival was a happy event to the Summaries. Streets where filled with music and food.</div>]]></description>
