Same with Ally, everyone judges her if she can read or not, but she can't, so people like Shay and Jessica make her feel bad about herself even though she tries. But if people judge her on other things, she might be able to it, she might be good at science or math, but just have a hard time reading.

When I think about this quote, I think, "Fish can't climb trees, but they can swim!" Ally can't read, but that doesn't make her stupid or dumb. A fish can't climb a tree, but it's great at swimming. It can breathe in water, which is amazing and something we can't do, but it can't breathe air, which is something really easy for us. Ally can't read, and reading is something really hard for Ally, but maybe she's good at math or science or something like that, and that may be something hard for someone else in the school that she goes to. Everyone is smart in their own, different way. That is what I think this quote means.

I think that the quote above is symbolizing that Ally in her life is like a fish and in the sense that if you say a fish can't climb a tree it won't be able to but if u believe in that fish it can do things that were never thought possible. So Ally needs someone to believe in her to give her a little push so then she can not only have someone else believe in her but so she can believe in herself as well!

I Think this quote means,You have to not judge and try to help. This relates to Ally in the story because Ally can not read but people think that there helping her but she's not believe in her self. She does not think anyone can help her learn how to read. I think reading is holding Ally back so she can not learn as well as the other kids. Ally is very smart she is just having trouble in reading witch is effecting allot of other things involving school. I think again the quote is saying that a fish is great at swimming in the water and the water is its habitat but on land witch is not its habitat up in a tree its sort of like ally for example,Ally's favorite thing to do is draw, and then theres school where she has never liked it and she does not think she will ever adapt to it with her not knowing how to read in this example drawing and some other things not involving school are her habitat like the fish on land is not its habitat, like ally school is not ally habitat and has trouble with it .

When I think about this quote it means to me that you should not judge other people by how they are, just like what the quote says everyone is smart in different ways, for example, somebody could be smart with sports, but not very good at math. While another person can be bad at sports, but can be good at math. "Fish can't climb trees but are great at swimming!" Just like Ally, she is bad at reading, but that doesn't mean that she is dumb or stupid just because she can't read well. I want to share a connection about me not good at stuff. For example, when I was young, I hated swimming while everyone else loved the water and always wanted to go to the pool. People would make fun of me. But now, everyone knows I love swimming, and literally water is like my best friend, and do you know how this happened? It happened because I tried. So if Ally can start trying to read then she would do a lot better and people wouldn't make fun of her anymore.

A fish can't climb a tree so you shouldn't judge it by its ability to climb a tree like with Ally she can't read and everybody doesn't understand that she can't read so they think she is stupid but everybody is smart in different ways like she has a great imagination. You can' judge Ally because she can't read and it's not her fault that she cant read it's because she has dylexia relating back to how a fish can't climb a tree but it can swim so you cant judge Ally because she always gets in trouble she gets herself in trouble so nobody will no she can't read because she thinks everybody will think she is stupid. She isn't dumb even though everybody(except for Mr. Daniels) thinks she is because she doesn't do super well in school and gets in trouble a lot. So what i'm trying to say is everybody is different so if they don't look smart one way look at them from a different angle don't just judge them right away because they might be smart in other ways that you don't see. Personally I don't think she's making the wisest decision not telling anyone that she can't read and that if she tells someone they most likely would try and help. That is what I think about this quote and what it means.

I think everyone is smart in different ways. This relates to Fish in a Tree because in the story Allie a girl who can't read is getting picked on and her teachers think she is not trying her best. Allie has never told anyone about not able to read and Allie thinks she is not smart when she really is. Allie is very smart in her own way,but she just doesn't know it. I think Allie should ask for help. And I think Allie should not think that her teachers are going to judge her because she can't read and nobody should judge Allie in a bad way.
