I also think that, depending on where the student is at with their learning, you may be able to troubleshoot together. Sometimes if a peer tutor hasn't taken the class in a long time, we may miss things that a student in the class wouldn't because they are reminded of the small details more often. One thing I would warn against is spending long periods of time trying to troubleshoot a single issue. I think if you can't figure out the answer after 10-15 minutes, it is probably best to move on to something else.
