the importance of being able to navigate the internet, and the pros and cons of telling digital storys vs. analogical stories 

- how can you relate the discussions to my future work 

I would be able to teach digital stories with underdeveloped children. where they tell their stories of how they see the world. or what they like and what they CAN do. they would probably work very much with the personal narratives. or you could work with the instrctions in a personal narrative - where they instruct for example in how to make food, or other things they are capable of. 

however - after the first blows it went better and we would listen to each other. I think it was good we had the option to spare with each other. However it felt a bit weird getting to personal so early on the course. There was definitely a language barrier as well. It felt good reading my story aloud. as it gave me confidence that it was ok and that it was interesting. It was nice with the study groups input. 

about the group work in the digital story

An example of how you make it work: 

“Rusture” in DK. Making a common ground. creating something they can relate to all of them. either by finding a common ground OR creating it. Show and Tell days in school. 

It was decided before her birth that Tine should be her name. However when she was brought to the mother in the hospital the mother knew the girl did not wish to be called Tine. It was an ugly name the girl thought, she wanted a longer and prettier name. 

So the girl came to have no name at all. The family called her by a sound. But soon they learned that a child must have a name. And as this wasn't America where you can get away with calling your baby almost anything they had the mother and father had to find a name they both liked. This was an impossible task. They would discuss it over and over again but no name was good enough for the girl. One day the mother said " now you go ahead and write a list of girls names and I will write one too. The first name we both have on the list will be her name. No exceptions." The parents wrote their list and took a good time to do it cause they didn't want to risk having put a name on the list that they weren't entirely sure about. 

Afterwards they made the girls aunt read the list and find which names were on both. The auntie said " you both have written Trine on your list.. But if you want my opinion the child will like it no more than she liked Tine. You best find another name." " no said the mother and father , we will never agree on a name we have tried for months and months." 

And so the it was decided that the child should be called Trine although she most certainly did not like the name. Unfortunately as you might know babies do have a hard time communicating with adults.

But the night before the christening the mother could not help herself. She had to see what other names the father had written down on his list. So in the dead of night she found the list and read it by candlelight. There were not many names she liked, and Trine was indeed the only one she herself had written of her list. But when she came to the final name her heart stopped. She ran to the bedroom and woke her snoring husband " you said you didn't like that name! I asked you when we had her sister. I begged for that name and you said it was an ugly name!" "Well now I liked it." " if I had known you would have written that name I would have written it too." And that is how the girl with no name ended up with a name despite having two parents who to this day cannot agree on anything.

It worked great that the course is divided in two different part, the more theoretical experimental part (and I really thought the experimental part was a lot of fun) and the festival where all our energy was used on creating a great show for kids. It wouldn’t have been the same experience had there not been kids coming to our show. Would have been cool though if you could had have some kids to practice on throughout the process.  

I really loved the little digital assignments we got in the beginning of the course, they were so much fun!
and the pre assignment as well. would have been cool to work even more with that. Mael's lectures were so interesting and the literature good as well. Would have been cool to go on a H.C Andersens street walk as we did in "fotællerværksted".

 
All in all I'm so happy I chose this elective because it has given me the opportunity to work with not only what I already had a set of skills for (digital and arts and craft), but also the subjects where I would never do a full elective in it (music and drama) because I would be too insecure. Thank you.
