The orchestra played two pieces those being, Beethoven's Symphony No.7 in A Major, and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.3 in D minor. This concert was an amazing experience that just enhanced my feelings for music and my overall appreciation for classical works such as these. Being someone who was a part of orchestra for 7 years and got the opportunity to play works of this caliber it was very nostalgic and emotional to hear these pieces. It made me miss my days in orchestra as well as remember the importance of playing these pieces because they hold such an important standard in history. After watching the orchestra perform I was in no way doubting the idea that these pieces and the people that composed them belong in the Western Musical Canon. By far my favorite of the two pieces was the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto. They had a guest pianist by the name of Gustavo Romero who was clearly very skilled and put every ounce of his soul and emotion into the piece. By the last movement in the last minute or so of the piece I was overcome with chills as the strings were playing very high pitches and Romero's intensity was at an all time high.
