In the story Margot is different and the other kids envy her and that can lead to isolation because no one else is like her. She is alone because she knows what the sun looks and feels like. The other children bullied her and locked her in the closet because she was different and didn't participate in the games. They isolated her by not trying to help her in any way. However, she also isolates herself by not participating or trying to make friends. This is shown in the text when the other classmates are physically and mentally picking on Margot. For instance, when the children lock her in to a closet to block her from seeing the sun, it makes her even more depressed.
