How I would use it: would group the students of five and a sigh each of the groups a property of water that they would research about using the school computer lab and books in the library. After they would note down some notes and then the groups would converge back to class the next lesson and each group shares their findings with the rest of the class.  Each group would have a secretary and a chairperson. A projector would be availed for the groups that want to use PowerPoint presentations.

So l would modify it by recording the story in advance using a laptop or phone then play it in class. After that the learners would be asked to retell the story.

| Why I chose it The need for a material that I could use to teach adaptations in plants and animals The OER is relevant to the curriculum. It is possible to adapt it and use it for my class. It is downloadable and can be changed according to ones needs.          | How I used it The teachers can identify photographs of plants that grow in dry areas, water plants and plants growing in the ocean.  Allow learners to observe and describe the external structures of each plant. Let the learners identify the similarities and differences between plants growing in different ecological zones from their observations. Download let them Download the TESSA OER and study Characteristics of Xerophytes, Hydrophytes and Halophytes. They should then classify the plants in the picture, home environment as Xerophytes, Hydrophytes and Halophytes based on their observable characteristics. They should further give reasons why the plants structures are different for different plants.

The title of my OER is Video clips – in a Counseling Class
Why you want to use it – what is the learning need?

The use of video clips will help to have a real life idea of how counseling is conducted, from the reception of the client to the sitting position with the client, the expected material in the room and even the atmosphere of the room as when as the body language. 

How you will use it and whether you need to adapt it. Could you include ICT?

I will project the video clips to the class by the use of LCD projector.
 
Write an evaluation of what you tried in your study notebook. Was it successful? Did the students 
enjoy the activity? 

The use of video clips was very successful since after watching the video, I paired the learners into twos and asked them to come up with a real life counseling situation and be able to conduct a real counseling atmosphere where one will be the counselor and the other counselee. 
The use of the video clips helped  in coming up with practical lessons and in the end makes the theoretical part of it very easy and students are able to relate the two. 

The class was also able to identify mistakes and point them out, this brought out peer learning, peer-support and peer-review

In the school situation Action Research encourages teachers to be aware of their own practices, to be mindful of that practice and to be prepared to change.  Observation (of pupils ability to recognise words, pupils ability to memorize words, pupils attentiveness during spelling periods, the writing speed of pupils, etc.), interviews and tests, were the research instruments used during the study.  The Literacy model of the Teacher Education in Sub Saharan Africa's (TESSA) Open Educational Resources (OERs) was employed to help improve the spelling skills of Basic Four pupils of OLA Presby Basic School, cape Coast, Ghana.  It was concluded,  among others that class teachers in the lower primary do not pay much attention to spelling and writing and that teachers should pay more attention to the teaching and learning of spelling at the lower primary is recommended. Teachers in other parts of Africa could employ some of the strategies and teaching approaches available within the TESSA OERs.

How I used it 
The Student teachers learnt about different teaching methods and the resources they can use in teaching. The student teachers were given the TESSA secondary science OERS to read and come up with a teaching resource for use during teaching practice. 
The resources were assessed at the end of the term. 

Students came up with very good resource materials that were customized for use in the schools.

To enable students:
- Identify categories of conflicts common in families, school and community.
- Discuss the impacts of such conflicts on individuals.
- Identify appropriate strategies to manage such conflicts.
How I could use it
i. Group students in three groups i.e. Group 1 to discuss conflicts at families, Group 2 to discuss conflicts at school, and Group 3 to discuss conflicts at community
ii. Students discuss in their respective groups the assigned tasks and make a record/report of their findings to be presented in class in plenary.
iii. Respective member from each group presents their group findings/reports to the class.
iv. I guide students to make summaries of respective group findings/reports.

Unfortunately my students are on holidays, so the activity was not carried out.
