         <description><![CDATA[<div>(Following the check for understanding)<br>Clarifying Question: Wouldn't the tone of the sonnet still be somewhat critical of historian's past accounts of beauty since the speaker criticizes their misunderstanding?<br><br>Teacher Response:<br>Yes, somewhat; however, the speaker applies a concession at te end, admitting that his own understanding of beauty is not comprehensive enough to define his beloved's beauty either. Additionally, the more dominant tone of the poem is an emotive and passionate one, as the speaker uses rhetorical devices and diction to accentuate this.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
