In the story “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, the moral of the story is to think for yourself and to be careful what you believe when making decisions. To enforce this, the video/story tells about a person who lies to the emperor of a kingdom [that he is the best clothing maker around] to get his hands on the gold of the kingdom. He tells him that the fabric he is using to weave the costume is only visible to the eyes of those who are worthy. The proud emperor did not want to admit he was not worthy to serve the kingdom so he kept his mouth shut when the fabric wasn’t really there. When the emperor showed his “amazing” new clothes to his advisors and the townspeople, nobody had wanted the emperor to think wrong of them so they too, kept quiet. Then a bright citizen, who thought for himself, and wasn’t so susceptible to lies, realized the emperor wasn’t wearing any clothes, and since he was very respected, the emperor and the townspeople finally realized they had been tricked.

When someone that you look up to is doing a new thing then you shouldn’t follow along just becuase they are doing it.

The moral of “the emporors new clothes” is you can’t just follow others you have to learn to think and act for yourself. The emporor was tricked into wearing no clothes and since everyone always goes along with him, they decided to start taking their clothes off. The emporor told them to stop copying him and act like themselves. I think the text is funny because no matter how stupid someone acts, if they are a ruler or someone important, everyone always follows them.
