With that in mind, the LaFetra College of Education seeks candidates with a strong emphasis in diversity, inclusivity, and social justice. 

Candidates must possess a Master's degree, valid Clear California Teaching Credential with an English learner authorization: Multiple Subject, Single Subject, or Special Education, and a valid CA Driver’s license. Furthermore, candidates must have at least three years of successful elementary or secondary school teaching. Additionally, candidates must have experience working with diverse student populations including English learners and teaching and/or working with adult learners. In addition to the specific teaching responsibilities, the candidate will need to have an understanding of the California standards for the teaching profession, and attain basic technology skills.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Education with an emphasis on secondary education or related fields.
  • Possess or have held a single-subject credential in any subject for grades 6-12.
  • Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues, success in creating inclusive classrooms and environments, and knowledge/experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives. 
  • Knowledge of theories and practices for secondary education/adolescent learners.
  • Ability to teach and mentor a diverse student population in face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
