The activities had great potential for interdisciplinary learning and I think they were great examples of bringing in real-life relevance for the students to appreciate the significance. I especially liked the suncream activity. I also try to do activities that are well-connected to the students daily life. I would really like to implement these activities at my classes because I think it's nice students can use these technology to analyze the data, however my school has not so many economical resources and we don't have these kind of sensors (UV and CO2).

I like both of the activities but they include special equipment. But I like the way connect it with daily life. I can use them if I can make my school buy these sensors. I used them before at university that was LabQuest and we measured pH, CO2 etc of the lake in our university. I remember how I had fun. It must be engaging for younger students too.

2.4 example A and B are not a secondary or high school class examples!!! The material to be used is not explained, neither its origin nor its cost.
Either Aliexpress and Banggood sells the ML8511 detector UV rays which detects light between 280-390nm which is classified as part of the UVB spectrum (burning rays) and the largest of the UVA spectrum (tanning rays). It gives a linear analog tension to the UV intensity measured (mW / cm2). With a microcontroller (Arduino or RPi) you can convert analog to digital signal, and thus know the UV level.
Air quality detectors are expensive, but in both stores you can find CO2, NO2, detectors to detect part of your air and do an approximation of it.

The two videos are very interesting. The two proposed activities launch a challenge to the group / class or an open question/ problem related to real life.
In both examples, students' initial ideas about the subject under study are tested, and it is the students who conceive and perform each of the experimental activities.

Open questions, dialogue in the classroom in small groups, asking to design an experiment, collecting data by the students themselves, completing and testing students' initial model, data is collecting that may even become a project focusing on improving air quality.
Laboratory environment, even clothing, the using of scientific equipment such as special sensors strongly motivates students.
Topics are relevant and important in everyday life, and after research and scientific evidence students will take personal decisions that affect their health responsibility. It is also very likely that they will share their information and experience with their friends and family.

The point which makes both activities so attractive is that they are strictly related to everyday life. Students are deeply involved in the questions, so I think the starting phase of engagement is very easy to be accomplished. The activitiy on sunscreen, in particular, is a mine of stimuli for integrated sciences.
I like the way the students have been put in the conditions of reflecting on and projecting the experiments.
I wold like to experience both activities soon but we do not have UV and CO2 sensors/detectors in my school. Anyway my students and I can manage to adapt what we have.

Both activities are very interesting and well designed. I think the students feel engaged from moment zero, since the topics are relevant to their health and well being. In both cases there is a pre-lab where the previous knowledge of the students as well as videos or personal experience is used in order to motivate initial/ background research. Then, testable hypothesis are proposed and the investigation is performed using specific sensors. In this type of experiences the main focus seems to rely in data analysis which is great as it encourages quantitative analysis.
Moreover, since students are affected personally but this type of issues it enforces the idea that the scientific method is a good way to make decisions in daily problems.

Both are very interesting topics and topics the students can already have an opinion about or ideas on how to go about protecting skin or improving air quality.
Equipment will be a limitation as not all schools will have UVB sensors. I would have liked to see what the actual experiments students would have carried out for the second experiment though.
I could imagine using the first experiment to tie in human impacts on the ozone layer. The second could cover investigations into the concentration of gases in the atmosphere, demonstrating that CO2 is produced by respiring organisms and that plants carrying out photosynthesis use up CO2 and therefore could be linked to improving air quality. Would like to have seen if these were some of the experiments carried out for video 2.

For me both topics are very good because it affects every student. everyday life topics are best to keep students interested. I like the CO2 topic better though because I think it is underestimated very often. Giving students the free choice to try their plans is key to a succesfull lesson I think.

The main fact in all these experiences is the ability to engage the students. I do like the way they tried to do it with their students, proposing activities related with their everyday life.

I liked how relevant these activities are to the students’ lives. All students know and I would expect them to have used sunscreen at some stage e.g. daily moisturiser or as a sunscreen whilst sunbathing. I also loved starting the activity with the online chat about their holidays etc and then bringing these statements into the classroom to analyse and find scientific reasoning behind them. I also found a good idea was giving the students different background info eg blogs, scientific papers and allowing them to find their own explanations for the activity. This would also help them to distinguish between reliable and unreliable material available online.

Likewise , with monitoring CO₂levels in the classroom – all students know how CO₂levels increase from respiration but this activity put this information into action. They go through the process from start to finish and I love the idea of using their information to write a letter to the principal as this really puts them in command of their work and gives their work meaning.

One difficulty for me would be the lack of equipment for this resource. I have not looked online but maybe using eBay etc, such equipment (UV and CO₂ sensors) might not be so expensive. It is worth looking into.

Both activities are very interesting and well-conceived. I think students feel engaged from the first moment because they are topics that are relevant to their health and well-being.
Moreover, since the students are personally affected, this type of problem raises the idea that the scientific method is a good way of making decisions in everyday problems.
I do not have in my school the envisaged equipment, ie sensors for carrying out these activities.

Following these activities, I'd like to mention some important principles wich I plan to implement in my classroom:

1. The relevance of the subject to the students, to their daily life, which raises their motivation for questioning.

2. Exposing students to updated sources of information in order to make them "experts".

3. Engaging students in finding previous information.

4. An attractive and experience-based learning process

5. Developing the ability to be involved in discussion based on facts and to take a part in an argumentation process.

These experiments were very interesting, specially the first. Working in groups makes them more invested in the project, understand the process the experiments require, the knowledge... Making a lesson practical makes the learning more effective, also, they are able to create their own ideas, and make a knowledge based on what they've seen, the knowledge becomes real, not just something you read on a book or something a teacher told you.

I loved this experiment not only because it made us of group work which somethings lacks a lot in classes but also because the students were able to test reality things that can contribute to safety. I thing these are very interesting and good experiments, that can reach a very high interest of the students. They will think about it and analyze them. And every kind of thinking is a positive way to widen up the knowledge.
