They feed on small shrimps and terrestrial and aquatic insects. They are also preyed upon by aquatic insects and fish-eating birds.

You should feed them a meaty diet with small foods like bloodworm and daphnia (planktonic crustaceans). Your pachypanchax may take dried foods but it may take time to wean them onto it. Make sure to feed your pachypanchax once or twice a day.

It’s perhaps best to spawn them in a group.
