Manchester City - Etihad Campus Case Study (Part 1)

The image below shows the training complex of Manchester City. The training complex cost £200 million, which some people hailed "as the best of its kind in the world".
The campus impacted the players at the club, as world class players would want to train be surrounded in an attractive facility. This would mean that players would enjoy their time whilst in the facility which would create a positive atmosphere among the squad. Former Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta quoted in the daily mail "Top players always want to train at good facilities. If you want to improve our squad, they are probably going to be big players coming from top clubs in the world. Having these facilities just makes it special". The facility impacts the numerous teams that Manchester City include such as the first-team, reserve team and their youth development teams as well. Included are 16 outdoor pitches which are well-watered by the 8.1 million-litre underground tank which collects and recycles rain. Two-thirds of the 16 outdoor pitches are dedicated to youth squads, which Pep Guardiola and his players have access to three pitches which the goalkeepers have a specialized half-pitch zone which include a different surface. The variation of surfaces include Desso, RouteZone and the more heavily sanded GrassMaster. This would allow the team, that if their next game was away and on an unusual surface then the team would be able to train in similar tricky conditions to what they would expect for the following away game. There are also "secluded" pitches surrounded by buildings, which allows players to work on their set-pieces without being hindered by windy conditions. This would allow players to adapt their skills of taking set-pieces similar to what is expected in a game scenario, which can give the players an advantage with the weather is impacting training sessions across the UK.
The Campus impacted the fans of the club, as this helped the fans to be attracted by encouraging fans to be apart of their academy. Younger fans would want to be apart of the academy because, they would know about the facility that Manchester City would be offering them the chance to get involved within the club which would help to promote the younger fan base of the club to get involved with the academy. This would encourage this aspect of the fan base to increase the fan base side of the club, to help the academy to promote more youth through by using this new facility. This would increase the fans excitement of the club, because this facility would help to promote young people within the community of Manchester to associate themselves more with the football community within the club. This would impact the club's fan base because, this would allow enable the ability of the fan base to interact with the new facility as this would promote more fans to visit the facility on a more frequent basis.
The campus impacted the Local community of Manchester, this promoted the club to help promote the club towards the local community in a helpful manner. This allowed people within the city to operate more with the club, as Manchester City would help out local charities that meant something towards the people of Manchester and people involved behind the club as well. A good example of the club helping the local community, as that the immediate impact that the whole of Manchester did in the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack that happened in May 2016. As a city, Manchester brought up the symbol, (Manchester Bee) as this reflected the impacted that such a tragedy can bring a whole city together. The Bee is a notice to other cities in the UK, that Manchester is known on the impact of working hard on a daily basis.
The Campus impacted football across the world, as this shown that Manchester City as a club wanted to take a major step into becoming a world class team in the years to come. By being provided by the standard of facilitates that the club would be using on a daily basis, this would show that possibly fellow clubs around the world maybe encouraged to make that major step in facilities standard. Of course due to the funds that the chairman has at Manchester City, this made it much easier for them to afford to build and finance such an impressive Campus. Due to the high costs of the campus which the club could afford, this meant that however clubs across the world who couldn't afford the build such a costly extension to their clubs had to stick with what they currently had at their disposal.

Sponsors are the financial support within a sporting environment. Having sponsors allows funding to athletes to focus on training and production within their specific sport. This would allow money to be funded and used for training, as well as helping with the production of events also. As sponsorship's between brands and teams / athletes benefit all included, this would generate a positive relationship for all involved. This would help the sporting committee, as everyone is within a happy environment which would help the direct financial input of sport sponsorship's. Due to sponsorship's becoming increasingly more popular globally, this would help sponsors receive prime global exposure and exclusive revenue. Sport and sponsors would be involved in a symbiotic relationship. This means they relay on each other for their success, sponsors need sport to sell their products, they aim to make profits, sport need sponsors for investment and they both aim to enhance further development in advance.
