These immigrants were willing to take this jobs even though they paid less, demanded that people work long hours and offered no benefits. The houses that they lived in were often crowded, expensive, dangerous, and unsanitary.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Industrial workers of the late 19th century were often foreign-born. They usually moved to industrial towns and cities, where they became unskilled laborers in steel mills, meatpacking plants, and the garment trade. These workers were able to tolerate the low wages, terrible working conditions, and long hours. Because of this, company owners tended to hire more of them to make more profit.</div>]]></description>
