Hide-and-seek or hide-and-go-seek is a variant of the game tag, in which a number of players conceal themselves in the environment, to be found by one or more seekers.

This game is also known as Hide and tig, Hidy and Hide and go seek.
One person is IT and they are the seeker, or person who will look for the other players.
The person who is IT stands at the base (home). They cover their eyes or turn around.
They count to an agreed number, or recite a tune or particular words, while the rest of the players hide.
When the counting or rhyme is finished, IT says “Ready or not, here I come” or “Coming, ready or not” and runs to find everyone.
The people who are hidden remain hiding until they are found and the last one to be found is the winner.

An agreed spot for the base or home

Lara Marušić is the first class of flute. She visited her grandmother and found out what games were played in her youth. Her grandmother brought her closer to a game called "Šprlja". We learned that this is an old version of the Mikado game. This is how play sticks were made (there were none to buy like today): while they were tending the sheep, the children bought twigs and carved them with a knife. My name is Vito. I asked grandma how children in her time played. Grandma said she did not have any toys. They used corn cobs for the game. They would stack four pistons in a row. The winner would be who would be able to stack multiple rows in height without the tower collapsing.

Mom said grandma didn’t have toys when she was little. Toys were made by the children themselves. They would make a ball out of old rags and socks. Grandma liked to play border guard (between four fires) with a rag ball the most. There was a team of many kids (usually boys) some of them were the policemen and the rest were thieves.The policemen had to touch the thieves on their backs and that meant that they have to go to the prison.If the thieves touch policemen on their backs that meant that they escaped.The goal of the game was that the policemen had to catch all of the thieves.

The boys played this game very often in their neighborhood!!!

THE GAME...TSILIKIA
"Tsilikia " was the favourite game of my father when he was a child. Two teams can play and they can have with them two wooden sticks. Each of the team throws away the one wooden stick with the other one and one of the child of the other team tries to take it on the air. The winner is the team which will manage to take more marks and will take "tsiliki" more times.

Hide-and-seek is a very old and popular game from the past up until today. It is played by at least two players at any place where potential hiding places can be found! Even a tree can be a perfect hiding spot! A specific spot is used as "base" where one player closes his eyes and counts until 100, in order to give time to the others to hide! As soon as he finishes the countdown, he starts seeking the others trying to spot their hiding places. But he must be careful not to get far away from his initial spot because then someone from the hidden players may reach it and "mark" it and then he wins! The goal is to reach the "base" without being spotted or seen!

It can be easily improvised and it's very fun!
