Mexico has a federal government because the roots of the Mexican republic can be traced to two documents drafted during the early independence struggle against Spain: Los sentimientos de la nacion (1813), by Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, and the Constitution of Apatzingan (1814). These tracts introduced the ideal of a republic based on liberal political institutions and respect for individual rights. Mexico's independence was attained, however, by an alliance of liberal and ultraconservative forces under the leadership of Agustin de Iturbide . Iturbide's Plan of Iguala proposed an indigenous constitutional monarchy, rather than a republic, as the alternative to Spanish rule. By assuming imperial powers following the victory over Spanish colonial forces in 1821, Iturbide continued the Iberian practice of plenipotentiary rule by the chief executive.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Mexico

Mexicans believe family is the central unit within their culture which the culture revolves around this emphasis on family. Family life is where the young are taught the culture’s religion, values, traditions, and their role in society. Roman Catholicism continues to have a strong hold on the Mexican value systems. Catholicism is a belief in an all knowing, all-powerful God with whom humans are nearly powerless. Because the God is all-powerful, He has the right to take life as he wishes. Mexicans believe in order to enter with Him into Heaven; one must work hard in this life to deserve this paradise. Finally, Mexican culture is known to be more masculine than feminine in nature. It emphasizes traits such as ambition and achievement. Men are considered the head of nearly every facet of Mexican life and woman are taught to be more subservient.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Mexico
