analysis: how dose this link with mt irp?

my irp's starting point is the ethics of precolonial tattooing however, the overarching themes i want to explore is migration within the Filipino diaspora, specifically those of us who have relocated to white-centred western countries and the complex identity that comes with it - through my worksheet i wanted to expand on the imagery tied to migration and found a link too the migration patterns of birds and human migration. i started to research birds with a flight pattern from Asia to Europe and found that it's actually not a natural occurrence and is hypothesised to be a genetic error within these two families of bird.

this resonated with me and i want to make these the point of focus and also find a way for it to still be recognisable to my target demographic as i plan to use this poster to link to a survey i can use in my irp research

how can I evolve this imagery to reference my irp?

-i could illistrate filipino specific imagry into tangled within the roots

- uproot the plant

-the process of repotting a plant into soil that it's not native too is a visual metaphor that links well to my irp

analysis; while it is a very clear way to depict reconnecting to your roots i feel as if it's too obvious and if i where to incorporate it into my poster i'd like for it to be more deconstructed and a textural element to elevate a point of focus

the illustrative link to my irp is the art of 'batok' i want to incorporate the patterns and symbolism within this art form to communicate the underlining theme of mt irp.

using patters; the patterns are repetitive and simplistic, they communicate the tattooed persons story, using the research i did for my proposal i can incorporate the symbolism that links to migration but i also want to have my own artistic spin, potentially fading or disconnecting certain lines to show how foreign it is to most of the Filipino diaspora

analysis; there is a clear divide between cultural and historical heritage especially in countries with an expansive history of colonialism - but why do people seek historical tattoos over cultural ones?

the want to return to the precolonial practises is a rejection of western ideals, a way to honor your ancestors and arguably a way to morn the culture you could have had

this uses a mixture of Batok and Polanyian symbols without proper research this dum dum has plastered a whole other cultures heritage on his arm and slapped the Filipino sun over it, this is was way more common during the early 2000's but still happens present day,

similar to the dumb tat it has the Filipino sun on it which is a very common design but why is this one sick and the other not?

this person has researched and gone to an actual artist who is educated and clearly knows what Batok is, this is a reflection of their ancestors and a really beautiful way of honouring them and your culture.

opposition; even if someone this was someone's intention why still dose it need to be so permanent? and are these symbols from different provinces all melded together? is this inauthentic?
