Each stanza is structured in the same way. It starts out by talking about how important this poem will be to the audience. Every stanza, in their own way, talks about how this poem can help the audience in their times of need. I know that if I was told "I love you" multiple times I would believe it more with every time it was told to me. Each "I love you" grows the love the author has for the reader. 
The text in between each "I love you" is also very repetitive. Each stanza describes what he could have given her if he could. The last stanza he stops the repetition and talks about how much to talk about how much he loves her. "When the world outside no longer cares if you live or die; remember, I love you". In the poem Warm is used to show how this gift will effect the hearts of the audience. 
Cold: This can mean two things as well, a low temperature or the lack of affection. In the first stanza it is talking about how the warmth of the poem won't let the cold in. 
These two words go hand in hand because you can't have one without another. You can't be warm if you were never cold. The reader is very loving and chooses to create a gift out of love. He seems to know that even though there will be hardships, there can still be joy and warmth. The tone seems to be optimistic of the future. This is a metaphor that is describing love as a compass. It's saying that love can help guide us whenever we may be lost in life.
Metaphor 2: "it is a pot full of yellow corn to warm your belly in winter". This is not literally saying that this poem is a pot of yellow corn, but it is saying that it can warm our heart.
