I am always on the look out to expand my music playlist: last time i really enjoyed listening to GZUZ, so i thought that listening to more german rap and learning some of the bars would help me improve my german pronounciation:

I started by just rapping along to the chorus:

Yo, schwarzer Dresscode

Spaceship, Facelift, Panamara flow

Wir sind die Organisation

Undercover cashfight Mitternacht ist stagetime latenight Panamera flow

This means Yo black dress code,
Spaceship, facelift, Panamera flow
We are the organisation

Undercover cage fight, midnight is stage time, late night, Panamera flow

The flow of the song is quite slow which enables me to get the pronunciation in time with the beat quite easily.

German slang

I use alot of slang in english, so i wanted to see if german slang would peak my interest
Heres the slang i learnt that i thought was either funny, useful and not cringey:

Was geht ab?
which means whats happening/ whats up, i would see myself using this, as i say this alot in english

Na?
another greeting, combines two phrases of hi and how are you doing, this is short and sweet, and i have used it around the house already.

Bock haben?
Means are you up for something/ up for.... I also use this term in english very often, it also seems very easy to incorporate into daily language
eg. Bock haben fussballspielen?

Chillen
used to describe a chill atmosphere, often when having a relaxed night in. I could see myself using this but in english i use the word calm, so i have already adopted the word ruhig, instead of this word.

I found the terms 'Auf dicke hose machen' ( Acting like you have fat pants?) and 'Nicht alle tassen im schrank haben' (Have you lost your mind?) to be quite cringey and over the top to say due to the length, slang is suppose to be a short way of saying, something much more complex.

CAPITAL BRA - BERLIN LEBT (PROD.BY THE CRATEZ)

The second rap that i learnt was Berlin lebt, just like the first song i thought the flow was easy enough for me to rap along to, which also helped my pronunciation, of words

I started by rapping along to the chorus as it is generally the easiest bit to catch onto:

This translates to:

Push the AMG 300 and the earth shakes (Bro)
I come on stage and shout “Berlin lives ! "
Everything changes, but never Capi's quality (quality)
I come on stage and shout" Berlin lives! "
Ghetto, Ghetto, because in my world only Para counts (yes, bro)
I come on stage and scream 'Berlin lives!'
No German passport, colleague, the written application was' rejected
I come on stage and shout 'Berlin lives!'

What i also found out is that bra is just slang for bro, I also found this alot harder to memorise and rap along to than Panamera flow, as the chorus was much longer, and the beat was faster.

Conversations w/ housemates

While isolating came across a site, which had conversations, i acted as one of the people in the video and paused every time they were about to speak, and spoke instead, then i got one of my housemates who did german a-level to act out as the other person, and we had a conversation about the topic of choice, which was about ein sommerhaus. This has helped my conversational skill, by making me more confident with pronoucing words in german, and memorises new words such as innnenhof, which is the patio, urlaub (vacation), planen (to plan), selbstverstandlich/natürlich ( of course) and glucklich (happy/lucky/fortunate).

I wanted do something very fun. whlist also learning about the german language, this led to me using the quizup app, where you can pit yourself against other players in many categories, including german. I played against many people, over lockdown, the harsh time limit for each question, helps me to wire my brain to think in german, rather than english, so the words can come faster to me, and when making a mistake i usually make a note, mainly because i want to get higher up on the leaderboards and win against my opponent.
