The Prison Reform Movement caught my attention the most, because people were treated cruelly for having mental issues, committing minor crimes, and men, women, & children were held in the same place. The jail cells were filthy and prisoners we're barely feed and mistreated. As for 2021, I feel we have done a lot of hard work to make prison a safe environment for criminals. Although, Texas needs a reform movement to keep masks mandatory. Governor Abbot is making face coverings optional and therefore risking the safety & health of his citizens. Texans still have to see the importance of masks, so we do not retain the Corona virus. It is NOT JUST a virus.

I'm surprised that someone from the 1800's cared enough for prisoners when there are people that don't today. I feel like society needs reform in it's economic system. There are people making less that $1 a day around the world, but there are people like Jeff Bezos who have more money that they need for thousands of lifetimes. I also believe that prisons still need plenty of reform and the conditions there are not humane.

The movement that stood out to me the most was the Abolition Movement. This is because it ended up changing many major things in our society once the abolitionists succeeded. African American's were being treated poorly and like they were different from us, but in reality, we are all human. They were forced to be slaves and do work for people who couldn't be bothered to do that work themselves.

The movement that stood out to me the most was the women's rights movement. Even after learning this for years I still think it's crazy that women had almost no rights, and not just voting, but also simple things like not having custody of their children or not being able to own land. This movement helped society because now women can go to school and get a job, it might not be easier, but now we have the right to an education. Today women might have more rights, but that doesn't mean we are completely equal to men. Maybe you might not agree with everything, but it's still important to support equal rights today because we don't have them completely. However, thanks to all those brave people we have more rights and we aren't treated like objects.

The fact that people used to think it was okay to own other people and force them to work is still alarming to me. The way people would treat other human beings like garbage and go to sleep everyday thinking "yeah, this is fine," is insane. And yes, there is MANY areas in society that needs reform. Even though it's not as extreme as it was back then, racism is still a huge issue today. Plus, there's still numerous groups of people who are discriminated against just for being different. There's also people who just deny that anything is going on in the world at all, ignoring every societal issue brought to their attention.

The most important movement in my opinion was the Abolition movement. It wasn't humane at all ,that a group of people were treated super wrongly and were being held captive in deplorable conditions. The Abolitionist did something so great and they stood up for what they believed was right ,and they were really brave souls for doing it.However I believe racism is still happening in todays society and it is a problem we need to solve, because people can not be treated differently for no reason.
