By designing a solution I can fix this problem in my life but also help other people who may face the same problem as some people really need their sleep to relax and prepare for the next day.

By helping people I can also make money by selling the invention. I can use the money to further develop my business and help more people and also make a living off it.

 An innovation would be when that design is derived from existing products and taken to market, for example if you combined a handle from one hammer and the head of another to make a new product.

Another could be for personal interest in the mechanics or design process

A third could be constructive discontent with current pepper grinders and how well they work or how expensive they are.

The products made by lone inventors may find it difficult to become successful since they may lack the ability to work with other people (teams). 

Therefore this aspect of lone inventors may affect their potential to be successful. Lone inventors are mostly driven by their own personal interests and goals, which may affect their chances of success and their ability to work in teams to develop their products or ideas further.

When working as a team, one advantage is that the design process will go much faster because many people will be working on it, but a disadvantage is that your personal design/opinion/way of doing things may be ignored.

It would be considered to be disruptive innovation if it is a better performing and/or cheaper product, introduced into an existing market, and disrupts the existing companies in that market.

It would be considered to be process innovation if the invention is a properly implemented significant improvement/new way of doing it compared to a previous product.

Cosmetic designer. To make the product more eyecatching

Customers might not dare buy the product because they haven't seen it anywhere else:

they would be the first to try it. They might prefer to buy the old one, but if you give some celebrities a few of the products and they give you a good review, it would be much easier to sell the new invention.

The desire to help others can apply to the invention of a portable wall since this invention’s function is to help people feel comfortable sharing a room. 

Technical curiosity can also be applied to this invention since the design process of this invention includes trying out different techniques to make sure the product functions properly.

Constructive discontent: As many people wore dissatisfied with armrests for tables and they wanted to make one to help them work more efficient and stop getting RSI.

Desire to make money: Since the covid pandemic many people are working on laptops and finding it hard to work comfortably. So by making a foldable armrest for tables that many people need it would be a great market opportunity. 

This invention can also be considered a disruptive innovation since the product created could be used by a bigger audience/ customer group. The product doesn’t only split the room as a wall but can also be carried along while travelling and is easier to use than the foldable walls which could make this product a displacement of older technology (the foldable wall). The improvement in the developed product has the capability to challenge other companies who sell foldable walls. 

Disadvantages: an individual may be reluctant to share ideas for fear of losing ownership. Miscommunication can happen, especially with large teams working in different locations. Individuals may not like working in a team
