Where I work I see signs of abuse a lot. You have to talk to students and they will begin to open up. One student recently told me their mom should go to hell. The student has been showing signs of abuse for a while, I reported it right away.

So I was fortunate enough to not encounter signs of abuse personally in my career but I have had a relationship with students who other teachers have reported and our relationship with those students varies.

At my old school I feel like I had CPS or social services calls or interviews monthly, but since I've been in this position I haven't been involved. in reports. My biggest fear was and is having parents retaliate or unenroll their kids after reports. Sometimes I'd just rather have them come to school and get help here than have their parents get mad and make the situation worse
