The Mandate of Heaven is the idea that there could be only one ruler of China at a time and that the ruler had the gods' blessing. If the ruler were "bad," then the Mandate of Heaven would cause natural disaster to happen. This allowed the people of Ancient China to have an explanation for natural disasters.

Confucius was an important man because he was a great philosopher, teacher, and thinker. He has made several achievements, and a religion is named after him! He believed that everything had to be done in a particular way.

The Warring States Period was a time of battles, and at the end of it, China was born. Two states, Qin and Chu, "won" and they established China (Ch'in looks like China). If those two states did not win the war, China would not exist.

Qin was the "first emperor of China". He ruled the Qin dynasty, and he created spy and bureaucratic systems. When he died, he was buried with over 8,000 terracotta warriors.

The Silk Road was a path made of many branches that people could travel on (It reminds me of roots). It went all over China, India, Asia, and even Egypt and Europe! The Silk Road was very important for the Chinese, for they benefited from the traded items.
