I joined the University of Exeter to study BSc Economics and Politics. My degree required me to use MS Office daily to complete coursework and assessments, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. I have since become proficient in these platforms, and would therefore be confident working with them, as well as assimilating new technologies - I am always willing to learn! Besides, this role presents an opportunity to give back to the University, and specifically the Business School, my College of three years.

I was halfway through 2nd Year when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. Teaching was mostly or fully remote for the rest of my degree, which made me acutely aware of the crucial role that digital tools play in our learning. Thus, I fully recognise the importance of DLDs' work in supporting and improving the online learning environment. Given my first-hand experience using a range of learning technologies, I can not only appreciate the value of these resources, but also provide constructive feedback on how they could be improved to enhance curriculum delivery and student experience, in line with the TEL Team's core aim.

After four years at university, I have become a flexible, engaging writer by working with a variety of assessment formats. This means I would be as confident preparing online resources and guidance documents as I would be acting as a first point of call for queries and requests. Since most of my university work is independent, I am both self-motivated and well-organised. I produce high quality, extensive pieces of writing that I proof-read meticulously, often dealing with competing deadlines; thus, I am used to managing a varied, demanding workload. Finally, balancing university with part-time work has pushed me to manage my workload/time effectively in order to succeed at both, improving my planning and time management skills.

I began studying MSc Global Governance, marking my return to in-person learning. But having had such a positive experience with e-learning, I developed an interest in this pedagogy. My subsequent desire to support the development of new teaching approaches and academic digital expertise motivated me to apply. What motivates me most is solving problems creatively, and I would therefore be stimulated by resolving requests and reviewing resources. I am also very familiar with the online learning environment, which would aid me in supporting the transition of programmes into blended formats.

I started my first job at the University as a Customer Service Assistant, which I held for two and a half years. Engaging with students and the general public improved my communication and interpersonal skills, teaching me to communicate politely and professionally at all times. This job took place within a collaborative, stakeholder focused environment, which taught me not only the importance of teamwork, but also how to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders. At this time, I also volunteered as an English TA at the University; this, along with previous TA work, has given me experience of supporting learning.
