In this magic realism book the main setting is in Texas. Which is pretty hot and maybe a little dry. Most of the food being prepared in the book was Mexican food like, mole, ox tail soup, and the three kings bread. The three kings day, and people danced to nortenas. Women dressed with dresses and men with jut a shirt and trousers. Main characters lived in a ranch there was no big cities, it was more like villages.

Puerto Rico is a small island, and the weather is warm most of the time. They do have some issues nowadays, because of the hurricanes that happened not long ago. There is poverty in Puerto Rico. People over there like to play baseball and kickball. Most Puerto Ricans are Christians, and they celebrate New Years, Christmas, and the Three Kings.

This nonfiction book takes place in South and North America. Enrique is from Honduras were there is a lot of poverty and drugs. He decides to com to the US in search of his mother, and this is what a lot of kids at a young age do, they try to cross the border. It is a huge risk because many die. When they come from Central America first they have to take "la bestia", which is a train, and it is very dangerous. Then EL RIO BRAVO separates Mexico and the US, people have to cross that river and many drown. The weather in The Americas is pretty warm but it gets cold over night. The clothes Enrique had was old and ripped. People in Honduras had to work every single day and the pay was cheap, the only money they got was barely to get some food. Besides the book did not show to much of the culture or other things of my word region.

This book matters to me becaue it is part of my word region.

This book matters to others because they might have a connection to the book.

This book matters to the word because it shows immigration.

This is a very popular legend coming from Mexico. The legend takes place somewhere in Mexico. It is about a beautiful women named Maria. She fell in love with a wealthy man and had two children. The guy leaves her for another women. once the guy comes back he only gives attention two the children and Maria gets super jealous; therefore, she takes the children and drowns them in the river. When she realizes what she has done she throws herself into the river aswell. Maria becomes a ghost called la llorona. She roams the rivers in search for her children yelling "Mis hijos donde estan mis hijos."

The lesson/theme of the legend was that you do not have to be really selfish or calling for a lot of attention. Mothers should always be aware of their children.

We made this into a type of puppet show video. We had expressed the Mexican culture in the video. So in the backgrounds we include mountains called Cerros. the houses were like old made of concrete, and the roads where from dirt. We also included Mexican music in the background. The woman characters had Mexican dresses. I thunk the class positively reacted to our project because the legend is quite popular ad the video was entertaining, since they were laughing. One of our weaknesses was that we did not know how to set up and work the camera. Our strengths is that we figured everything out and we worked to together, therefore, we finished the project on time.

This legend matters to me because I heard a whole bunch of times.

It matters to others around me because it is like tradition to tell this legend.

The legend might matter to the world because it has become part of the culture and others might be interesting to here about this legend.

In my website I added a few more things so it can look better, and not empty. The activities were alright is was not the best since we had to do three of them in a week. My website describes the book pretty well, because I really tried to add important things, and a lot of information. There was also different sections like the charcters, plot, and theme. However, my book was interesting, and that is why I created a pretty good website. The only thing that I did not like was that we ran out of preparation time, and we were rushed at the end. What I learned about myself is that I became more confident this year, however, I was still a bit nervous when the presentation was going on, but that is normal because it was the biggest presentation of the year. What I learned abut my group was that they can all be really good if they wanted to because they all contributed in some way. Ana was the most impresing since she took lead from the very beginning, and I truly did not expected from her. From the community I learned that no matter what culture they still like to play their games and have fun, also they would eat any culture's food as long as it is good. I learned that the world is much bigger than we usually think, because in only a small are there could be hundreds of different cultures. If there is anything I would have done different is to be better prepared and participate more. Also have way more prep time. Before the project I felt really confident and I was calm, because I knew things would be alright. I was going to try hard to not be nervous and stress. During the presentation there was definitely more pressure and I was getting a bit nervous. I think I got nervous because we did not finish decorating and g=heating up the food, so we made some last minute changes. We had to present our partner's slides because they were heating up the food. After the project I felt relief and good because I thought we did good, there was no more pressure. I felt good and now could sit back and relax, I also got the chance to experience many other Cultural Exchange Projects, from other students. At the end I was proud of myself, but also my whole team. Yes, I think I did learn a lot from my world region, because all the books were very different. One was about soccer, another of immigration, and other were romantic. Even though i come from my world region, I did learn a few more things. For example Frida was became a famous Mexican artist. If I could start all over I think I would like to participate more and be better prepared with everything. Maybe we should get a bit more time to work on the project, like start earlier or something.

The Cultural Exchange Project matters to me because it was the biggest presentation I had in the whole year and it was a big part of my grade.

It might matter to the people around me because they either worked on me with it or they knew I had a big presentation.

It might matter to the world because they can learn more about our world region and experience some food from that culture and other things as well.
