Ivan IV had his father die at a very young age. His mother ruled with power with the boyars. (Yelena Glinskaya) As a young boy Ivan IV was greatly influenced by his surroundings. He saw nobles rise to power by killing, torturing, arresting, etc. On Jan 16, 1547 Ivan IV was crowned Czar of Muscovy. He married Anastasia Romanova who helped save Russia from many possible deaths and kill that Ivan could have enforced. She was able to calm him and soothe him. When she died of illness when she was giving birth to her next child, in a fit of rage Ivan killed his eldest son. Over the time Ivan became more viscous and cruel. Ivan had also persecuted and killed many of the boyars and his subjects for possible treason. Thats why he established the Oprichniki, a group with secret undercover police officers that report to the king if any suspect of treason is in his court. After a long nasty rule Ivan the terrible's reign was finally over.

- Jayden

Introduction: A legend states that a priest told Ivan the Terrible's father that he would have a wicked son, and he did! d Ivan IV's died when he was three years old. His mother died later and many believe she was poisoned. Ivan was still too young to take the throne, but once he was seventeen he did.

Information:

1. Ivan IV was a very cruel man. When he was a child he was very angry and cross. He grew up in a place full of violence, he would see people being arrested, and getting killed. He saw this at an early age and he could not trust anyone anymore. Once he was old enough to marry, he married a women named Anastasia. She was a kind hearted women, so it kind of rubbed off on Ivan IV. Once Anastasia died, it caused agony, pain, and sorrow in Ivan's heart making his temper fly out of control. He hit his eldest son so hard that he ended up killing him. This vicious and cruel behavior never stopped, it just grew worse. There is even a legend that says when Ivan IV asked an architect if he could build a church as nice of St. Basils, and when the architects said yes, Ivan had him blinded. Of course this is just a legend but the fact it is so cruel tells us plenty about Ivan the Terrible.

2. Some may say Ivan IV rules with an iron fist. His viscous, cruel, and violent behavior impacted the way he ruled. As he got older his temper grew shorter and his action became worse. He arrested and executed people for no reason. His trust for others became smaller and smaller over time. This led to him killing boyars. He also forced boyars into joining the military, making it likely for them to die and cutting off their family blood so no one would inherit the land, giving Ivan more power. Ivan gained more territory by creating war with his neighboring countries in the south and west instead of building strong allies with them.

Conclusion: In conclusion, Ivan the Terrible rules with an iron first. He was cruel, mad, power hungry, and short tempered. He had no trust for anyone starting at a very early age. Once he died and his reign was over, Russia was a complete confused and unorganized mess! this became known as the Time of Troubles.

Ivan IV was a mentally tortured soul who couldn't tell justice and being biased apart. He was too far gone from what had chipped his sanity and goodwill away in life. He was, as his name suggest, terrible and power-hungry. Everything started when his father died, and his mother soon after. Probably by then, he was suspecting the boyars had done it to seize power over him, a young child. He saw the injustice happening around him that were caused by the boyars, and that might have been an influential part of his life. He loved his wife dearly, and she was probably like part of him. She was likely the person he was closest to, the person he was linked to, the reason he hadn't gone crazy yet (his parents were probably busy with 'royal business') When she died, it broke him. The reason he still ruled his country fairly was gone. So was he. Ivan IV went insane, beating his favorite and eldest son to death. He persecuted boyars, assigning himself his own personal police and personal chosen landowners, commanding his police to attack and torture anyone that seemed the slightest suspicious. Once, he even blinded an architect because he claimed that he could build something grander than a castle that Ivan IV had built. He ruled his country, desiring power, leading his people into war to collect land for Russia. He ruled his country with an iron fist, through fear and cruelty. Even after his rule, it was an age called the Time of Troubles, leaving Russia in chaos.

1. Ivan's father and mother had died when he was at a very young age. During his childhood, Ivan saw violence as nobles fought for power. He also saw people being unfairly arrested, exiled, or executed. This way, he distrusted everyone who was with him. This was how he grew up as a troubled, angry child with no trust in others.

2. Ivan IV was crowned Holy Czar, Monarch of All the Russians when he was not yet seventeen years old. He was an angry and troubled person who did not trust others. However, after marrying Czarina Anastasia Romanovna, he ruled Russia under her calming influence. He expanded the country to the east, including Siberia and to the south and west by having wars with neighbors. He built St. Basil's cathedral in Moscow to celebrate his victory with an architect from Italy, who was eventually blinded to make sure he never builds another cathedral as splendid as St. Basil's. This is one example of Ivan's terrible behavior. Ivan distrusted and persecuted boyars. After the czarina died out of illness, Ivan turned mad from this sorrow and his temper grew worse. He then started to order more persecutions. After his death in 1584, Russia was an empire of chaos with suffering people. The time after Ivan's death was known as the Time of Troubles.
