This was the start of their tumultuous 19 month relationship. Together they would do hard drugs, heroin being their drug of choice. Sid Vicious allegedly abused Nancy in fits of rage and their relationship came to a violent end on October 12, 1978 when Nancy was found dead on the floor of her bathroom in the Chelsea Hotel. The cause of her death was a single stab wound in her abdomen. During the trial, Vicious was very tense and showed signs of depression. Vicious pleaded not guilty and his bail was set at $50,000. The court set three conditions for Vicious to adhere to: "(1) Continue to report daily to the methadone clinic before 2pm, (2) report daily to the Third Homicide Zone officers before 1pm, and (3) do not leave the confinements of the New York City limits." This was only for the pre-trial, though.
