I have been struggling to build coherent sentences, and my vocabulary is painfully small (I am always asking what's the word for ...). I thought that by start reading simple books I could improve my communication skills (both spoken and written) faster. I could get the gist of the story although I couldn't understand a significant part of the words. Therefore after reaching the 4th page I went back and started translating the first page. I repeated the sentences and translated them. It helped with the pronunciation and I got to improve my vocabulary.
