Sexualizing Asian Women

In the mid-1800's, thousands of Chinese and Japanese women were brought to the U.S against their will to work as sex slaves. Asian women are stereotyped as quiet, deferential, and shy while asian men are. often seen as less masculine than other races: nerdy, not brawny; passive and reserved. This article is about a 22 year old white male named Robert Aaron Long who killed 8 women of Asian descent because he had a sex addiction and because he fetishized Asian women. "The suspect told the police that he had a “sexual addiction” and had carried out the shootings at the massage parlors to eliminate his “temptation,” the authorities said on Wednesday." (8 Dead in Atlanta Spa Shootings, With Fears of Anti-Asian Bias, The New York Times, March 26,2021)

Young black men, even teenagers and young boys are twenty-one times more likely to die at the hands of police than their white counterparts, despite the fact that they are less likely than young white men to be engaged in criminal activity. In the majority of cases, black men who die at the hands of police are unarmed and nonviolent.

Hyper-masculinity is a term for the exaggeration of male stereotypical behavior, such as an emphasis on physical strength, aggression, and sexuality. Black men are frequently stereotyped as hyper-masculine whereas White males and Asian males are seen to be more feminine.

This is a video clip from the Netflix show "Sex Education" In this clip you see the character Eric waking to the bus stop dressed as a woman. Two males in a car pulls up and one of them says "excuse me miss" Erick replies "no thank thank you" and continues to walk. Then the guy say's "You got a penis miss?" The car pulls over and the guys get out and beats up Eric.

I chose this video because It's already scary to be a Black person let alone a Black Male in American and other parts of the world. For instance, Eric is from Nigeria and it is illegal to be gay. There is an. episode where Eric and his family take a trip to Nigeria for a wedding and Eric meets this guy and they go to a secret gay night club. The penalty for being gay in Nigeria is death. Here in America you get bullied and maybe even killed but not because it's against. the law to be gay but because of homophobic people who refuse to look at the LGBTQ+ community as people.

This a video of whit male in the South who talks about's what it is really like to be a black person in America. He talks about how history does a have a role in how blacks are treated today.

What does he say about Sociologists ?

What was stripped away from Black people?

What is known as black cuisine in the South? And is that from Africa?

What scars are left form slavery? Physical or cultural? and why?

I chose this video because as a young Black American female who was adopted by uneducated white Americans I'm still learning about black culture and what it really means to be black in the U.S. I hope you all have gained a more understanding of what it is like to be a black person in America.
