Once Clarisse enters back into her home, Montag is reflecting upon the strange girl he just met. He thinks to himself "How long had they walked together? Three minutes? Five? Yet how large that time seemed now. How immense a figure she was on the stage before him"(Bradbury 11). Despite Montag only talking to the girl for a short period of time, he feels that she has made a vast impression on him. The quick impression Clarisse makes on Montag conveys her bold, inquisitive personality.

During Montag and Clarisse's conversation about the wonders of the world, and how she knows about them, she states that, "They want to know what I do with my time. I tell them that sometimes I just sit and think. But I won't tell them what...and sometimes, I tell them, I like to put my head back...and let the rain fall in my mouth." (Bradbury 23). Due to the fact that people have run out of time for others, and for nature, they find anybody who has time for the world deemed insane enough for the insane asylum.

When Guy Montag first meets Clarisse McClellan, he feels that she is "walking in a circle about him, turning him end for end, shaking him quietly, and emptying his pockets, without once moving herself," (Bradbury 6). Guy's feelings about Clarisse convey how she is inquisitive and questioning. She is trying to get information out of him and learn his true feelings about his occupation. His feelings also demonstrate how she is quick and easy to trust. She quickly gains his trust and tries to information out of him and he tells her about himself immediately.

When Montag got home after talking to Clarisse he could not stop thinking about her appearance. He thinks to himself "she had a very thin face like the dial of a small clock seen faintly in a dark room in the middle of the night.." (Bradbury 10). Montag starts to realize Clarisse real beauty and how interesting she is as a person and her looks. Great quote!!! Montag's odd comparison of Clarisse's to the "dial of a small clock" that can only be "seen faintly" implies he sees her as some small beacon of light in a rather dark existence.

During the moments of conversation between Guy Montag and Clarisse, the way each individual behaves is indicative of their characteristics. Not only do they walk "the rest of the way in silence, hers thoughtful, his a kind of clenching and uncomfortable silence in which he shot her accusing glances" but they each have different perspectives of their society (Bradbury 9). Clarisse is more questioning of her surroundings while Guy Montag adheres to and follows the laws closely. She is more peaceful and keeps her focus in the thoughts of her head. On the other hand, Guy Montag is more brash and untrusting just from the silence between the two.

As Clarisse talks to Guy, she admits to him that "[she's] got to go see [her] psychiatrist now. They make me go. I make up things to say. I don't know what he thinks of me. He says I'm a regular onion! I keep him busy peeling away the layers" (Bradbury 22). By telling Guy about how she loathes going to her psychiatrist appointments and how she stalls her doctor, Clarisse lessens the mental stability of her appearance even more.

During Clarisse and Montag's second Encounter on the sidewalk, Clarisse brings up a concern with her psychiatrist. "The psychiatrist wants to know why I go out and hike around in the forest and watch the birds and collect butterflies."(Bradbury 23). This is where it is revealed to Montag that Clarisse is definitely different from the other people he knows, But interesting at the same time.
