During this week's readings, I believe I learned a great deal of new information that will help improve my writing as a college student. Many of the readings made me come to the realization that college writing is different compared to high school writing. One of the things that I learned which will help improve my writing is that it is important to know when it is necessary to begin a new paragraph. Whether a writer is writing their story in a chain of events or starting from the finale and later providing context, when they are shifting from a place, action, or dialogue that is when there needs to be a shift in paragraph. The reason this is important in my learning journey is because this will help me shift from my accustomed way of writing essays which include five paragraphs primarily revolving around the thesis.

One thing that I found interesting is on benefits of doing a reflection and cover letter over an essay. The process of writing one is explained throughly in the chapter as it is essentially a "writing of writing". It is a way for a writer to understand why they were stuck on certain parts of their essays and what changes they could make on their writing process. With a writer writing a reflection or cover letter it will help them improve on their writing by reviewing their mistakes. The reason this idea is excited to me is because it will give me the opportunity to reflect on any dilemmas I may had on my essay and essentially help me improve on my writing for the future.
