One of the themes in The Giver is there's always a solution to a problem. That is one of the themes because in the text, Jonas and Gabriel went on a journey to elsewhere. Along the way, they came across quite a few problems. For example, one of the problems was when the search planes were constantly looking for Gabriel and Jonas. Jonas would have to quickly bike over to the nearest hiding place and take cover there. But, Jonas remembered that the planes had body warmth detectors so Jonas had to give the memories of snow to Gabriel to make them both cold. A message about the society in The Giver, is that everyone has to get along. For example, when someone would do something a bit rude, people would pull you aside, give a big talk to you about how you shouldn't do that and they would try to teach you a lesson. This shows that instead of them learning lessons on their own, someone will teach them the lesson.

In the Giver they didn't now a lot of things we knew like colors, love, family, parents, and more. And it could seem weird because we've known these thing since we were born. I also think that a lot of the things Jonas learns throughout the book is really hurtful and if we had to go through the pain it would be hard just to imagine that. Also when Jonas said love his parents were in shock but in the life we live our parents would be very happy. SO the way that Lois Lowery wrote this was full of all types of feelings.

I think the themes of "The Giver" relate a lot to "Harrison Burgeon" and "Tripods" for example "Harrison Burgeon" is also based off the idea of complete equality and the "perfect world" and I believe has a similar theme of equality is not always good and that we need to celebrate our differences and in "Tripods" they talk about the Tripods and how they brainwash everyone at the age of 13 just like they assign jobs in 'The Giver" at 12 so I think the theme of those to novels are don't let society take control of you, you are your own person.

This relates to the giver because Jonas thought that his society was not fair to the citizens, so he ran away after confronting the Giver about it.
