A comment from my granddaughter about the lack of freedom when it comes to her spending allowance. 

The whole planning concept. Marshalling equipment and props, arranging mood boards etc. For me, photography is a hobby not a test of my application of the ’S.M.A.R.T’ acronym. “Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely”

I am a firm believer in the ‘K.I.S.S’ acronym, ‘Keep It Simple, Stupid” or “Keep It Super Simple”. 

I had a willing model, a friend who is a makeup artist and an available local studio. The images were all captured at one photoshoot and everybody left the studio with a happy smile on their face.

Out of the other images I captured during the shoot these are to ones I like, it's a ‘Marmite’ thing.

Unlike continuous light sources such as lamps or light bulbs, studio flash lights emit a brief but intense burst of light when triggered by a camera's flash sync signal. This makes them ideal for capturing high-speed action and freezing motion in a photograph.

Studio flash lights come in a variety of sizes, power outputs, and features. Some models have built-in modeling lights that provide continuous light to help the photographer see the effect of the flash before taking the shot. Other models may have adjustable power settings, which allow the photographer to fine-tune the lighting to achieve the desired effect.

In addition to the flash lights themselves, a typical studio lighting setup may include light modifiers such as umbrellas, softboxes, or reflectors, which are used to shape and diffuse the light to create different lighting effects.

Continuous lighting can come in a variety of forms, including tungsten, fluorescent, LED, and HMI lights. Tungsten lights are the traditional type of continuous lighting and use a filament to produce light. They are known for their warm color temperature, but they can get hot and require cooling. Fluorescent lights use gas to produce light and are more energy-efficient than tungsten lights, but they may have a greenish tint that can be difficult to correct in post-processing.

LED lights are becoming increasingly popular for continuous lighting because they are energy-efficient, have a long lifespan, and are cooler than tungsten or fluorescent lights. They also offer a range of color temperature options and can be dimmed to provide precise control over the lighting.

HMI lights are high-intensity discharge lights that use a gas-filled arc lamp to produce light. They are known for their brightness and are often used in film and television productions. However, they are also more expensive than other types of continuous lighting and require special ballasts to operate.

Regardless of the type of continuous lighting used, it can be modified with softboxes, diffusers, or reflectors to control the intensity and direction of the light, similar to how studio flash lights are used.

I personally will never forget Christmas Day 2013 nor how Social Media impacted the life of a beautiful person.

I was not seeking validation for my images or my hobby. Whether an individual likes or does not like one of my images is totally irrelevant as even I don’t like some of the images I have captured.  I am looking to see if there is something a bit different rather than a view tainted by money-obsessive individuals for whom photography is just a vehicle, not an art form.

Typically a studio would have strobe lighting, light modifiers, backdrops, and other accessories to support still photography, none of this is available. 

 The classroom computers are  27” Apple iMac computers with an outmoded GPU that is no longer supported by Adobe Photoshop. The library computers do not allow users to save their work directly to their own external drives. 

Padlet lends itself to the virtual classroom. In light of the experiences gained delivering courses during the Pandemic, the resource-stretched college may want to consider an online delivery of the NCFE Level 2 Photography Course. 

Why add a totally unrelated qualification to the course? I did not sign up for that. 

Furthermore, your technical proficiency is noteworthy. The control you exhibit over lighting, whether natural or artificial, is evident in the balanced and well-exposed photographs. The way you have manipulated light to create highlights, shadows, and gradients adds depth and dimension to the subjects.
