Turn & Talk, teacher circulating. 2 students go to the window to examine whether it is raining or not. 2 students laying down.
FA pulls student outside to speak with him.
Students return to tables. Many have heads on tables. Table 2 and 3 are engaged in conversation about book.
"We are going to write how their feelings were, but before we do that we are going to step back.... I noticed yesterday that we need to do more work on practicing our sentences"
If you have the letter A at your table- systems in place for distributing materials. FA passes out pencils.
The students begin writing names on packet. Wait time.
If students had done this practice before the IRR how might that have set them up to engage differently with the CFQ? What if they wrote the CFQ and then had sentence structure practice and revised their writing based on this new knowledge?
I am concerned that by the time they go to answer the CFQ they will be too far removed from the book to answer adequately.
No directions are given as to how students should complete the packet.
Did you teach a lesson previously on how to form a complete sentence? Is this to assess their knowledge in order to teach the lesson? Do you have a student who is very skilled at sentence structure that could act as teacher to help other students gain this understanding in a different way?
