The Dreamer - the Joseph Story Retold, last night at The Hexagon theatre in Reading, was a delight to watch from beginning to end. This captivating retelling of the story of Joseph was a truly remarkable experience.

The original musical compositions were nothing short of exceptional. Each song added depth and emotion to the narrative, perfectly complementing the story and the talented cast. Every actor brought their character to life with passion and conviction, delivering powerful vocals and believable portrayals.

The clever structure of the narrative, with flashbacks to the past and present, kept the audience engaged and intrigued throughout. This contemporary approach gave the timeless story of Joseph a fresh and relevant feel.

This was a truly inspiring and enjoyable production. It is a testament to the talent and dedication of the entire team involved.

The music was incredible 🔥🔥🔥 really amplify even more the story in a deep way.

It was also great to see also funny elements in the story 🤣😂🤣. We need a spotify album with all the songs, I am personally going to be listening to the food song on repeat every time I eat 🤣😂🤣

Indeed a timeless story and it was great to see the story zooming into detailed aspects which we might have otherwise overlooked because we have heard the story so many times before.

There were so many lessons learnt for everyone and the play definitely communicated to various age groups🎵🙏

Some tweaks:

1. More stage hands to speed up transition time between scenes. If this is not possible, then at least at the end of each scene once the lights dim, the characters could each grab something to take off stage.

2. The balance between instruments and voices was at times too heavy on the instruments and it was hard to hear what the characters were singing.

3. Consider thinning the mix in the songs. The balance was very bass heavy and the treble was being drowned out.

4. Consider having more songs, but shorter versions. More short songs will improve the pacing of the story.

5. Consider more choreography for the characters during the songs to maximize stage presence. More movement to make full use of the space.
