It's "part of being an NBA player".
- Silver noted that NBA fans tend to embrace many of the same values that the league has advocated for, including anti-discrimination policies.

- The NBA does a good job of segmenting their market groups.
- YOUTH - Provides training for young kids, also allows them to play in their own league. NBA players also help and work with young kids to influence them to do good and to play basketball. This is because the young people is seen as the future, thus will have influence over the organisation.
- ASIA - Before every season NBA players go on an Asian Tour, going to China, Philippines, Taiwan and more, to spread the game of basketball. This has been evidently successful because the NBA is China's most popular sports league. During the 2017 NBA Finals, more than 190 million Chinese streamed the games on their mobile devices.

- Top 3 competitors in the Sports & Utilities sector:
1. NFL (National Football League) - founded in 1920. There are 32 teams in the NFL. Every team is very different in their look and feel, however, each supports the overarching brand of the NFL. From the field to the jersey to the broadcast, every game is branded with the NFL symbol.
2. MLS (Major League Soccer) - founded in 1995. The MLS is said to be playing catch-up with other leagues because soccer is still being popularised in the US, however they are doing a good job in attracting a younger audience.
3. NHL (National Hockey League) - founded in 1917. The NHL is most dominant in Canada and is growing its brand in Europe by opening up regular season games in places such as Finland, Sweden and Germany. The NHL is more of a niche sport in the United States. It is most popular in the Northeast and least popular in the Southeast.
-THE WALKING BILLBOARD EFFECT: When a fan wears any attire supporting 'their' team, they are ostensibly supporting the organisation e.g. NBA & NFL.
