In the training course A classroom with a door to the world in Guadeloupe I could learn about the importance of the school having an International School Plan Policy, as a strategy for internationalization and the organization of a curriculum more focused on the challenges that today's students will have to face in the future.
By including the European dimension and the global dimension in an effort to reorganize and modernize my school's curriculum, we will be able to strengthen cooperation with other local and international partners, in order to innovate in teaching methods and increase the quality of teaching for our students and educational community.
It was a course that positively surprised me and exceeded all my expectations, as I learned through experience and emotions with the fantastic people I met, the wonderful places we visited and the amazing culture that we experience on this island!
I'm grateful for the opportunity to have participated in this course! It really came to improve my skills and bring me new points of view about education and teaching.

What I learned in this course...
As Director of the school, I was motivated by the course "A classroom with a Door to the World" - Internationalization of curriculum and national identity.
After these days of learning, I can only say that I leave here culturally and professionally richer.
Being a teacher is also being someone who can improve the world by sharing their wisdom. This course was very well structured and organized so that we can overcome some barriers that exist in the formal curriculum.
I learned that little things can change the view of something, more complicated subjects can become more accessible and interesting.
What surprised me most was that you don't have to go into a classroom to learn. Everything around us inspires us to excel and teach. The school is made up of diversities and that is what we must highlight, preserve and admire, even if it is necessary to retrain ourselves to bring ourselves to reality and the present. A more Global citizen left here!

During this course i was able to improve my experience and learn more about internationalization of curriculum and national identity. Through the sessions we reflected and discussed on several topics such as identity, culture, multiculturalism, music, global citizenship, internationalization and school policy, key competences and international school projects. Doing the exercises helped me to a better understanding of how to do / create new international projects, envolving all schools elements. Sharing with others and reflecting on topics make us wiser too. Getting envolved into Guadalupe daily life, such as to be a part of their culture, playing the drumm, doing kassav, visiting the grand du Sac Marin and Ground forest was really an amazing experience that put me on their shoes, leading to a better understanding of heritage, culture and history. I choose to learn!

Rubina

Feedback of the course
To participate in this course it was a unique experience. Starting by the very good organisation, in spite of Covid19, we were able of doing all programme activities. The subjects were explained clearly and had a good theoric basis emphaziting the main keys. The design of the course is also very well balanced in the abroad activities and time to reflection and work production, as inividual as colective. The theme is quite appropriate for actual times that we're living for and incitates to transform the school from inside to outside.
One of the strengths is the strong cultural and heritage aproach linked to the international curriculum. Other strength is the awareness on how to do a international project, according to the E.U. guidelines, since from the beggining until the evaluation of it.
At the moment there's nothing, in my opinion, that could be imrpoved in the course. Even with a mandatory curfew during the time course Rita managed very well the activities and the time for each one.
I strongly advice this course to teachers who really want to make the difference in their schools. Not for better graduate single evaluation but for improve the skills on their students, colleagues and school community. The international curriculum is, in fact, a huge opportunity for A Classroom With a Door to the World.
"We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
Plato

When I arrived on the island of Guadeloupe to do this Course my expectations were huge and day after day they were exceeded.
I learned the importance of having an international curriculum at school. With this curriculum, all children benefit from global learning and become citizens of the world.
I learned to have a different perspective of what teaching is like when leaving my natural environment. I realized how important it is to get to know new cultures and the richness that this brought me at all levels. Here I was sure how much I still need to innovate my teaching practice. As a Portuguese writer said- "You have to leave the island to see the island."
During this course I understood how important my personal motivation is to guide my students to be better citizens every day. From here I bring new concepts and ideas to work with them and help them grow. I am immensely grateful to have had this opportunity.
