In other words, we are doing Art in Nature. 

Personally, I do not have a keen interest in art and will find this activity rather difficult. Rather than gaining pleasure from this activity, I will be bored and find it a chore instead. Even though I have learnt different art forms from school such as sketching, water-colouring or gouache, none of these forms appeal to me.

I am sure many students like myself would be keen to know more about how we can see art in nature. As someone who is not very talented in Art, this is something I can learn from. I think the workshop will share more about how we can learn to make beautiful paintings inspired by nature. I will be thrilled to learn more about the different ways to look at nature and pick up new skills to make my painting more realistic.

Since it is for children aged 8 to 12, I am sure many other students who are interested in art and nature will love to participate in this activity. The school has to be near my house as I will have to travel to and fro for 5 days a week, 10 over months a year! I cannot fathom the thought of going to a faraway school where I have to wake up at 5am. The nearer the school, the later I need to wake up, the better. Currently, I have to wake up at 6.30am to prepare for school since I only live about 1 bus stop away from school. If I had to choose another school again, then I hope to have something similar or even closer. 

My choice of schools also depends on the programmes available. Some schools have very boring programmes like only reading and reading and reading. If there was a school that allowed us to have all sorts of fun activities like learning robotics or coding, which is my personal hobby, or have lots of learning journey so that I can have outside lessons, it would be a sure win in my books.

Last but not least, I think the choices of food available in the canteen is important. I cannot imagine eating the same food every day. Having a wide variety of a food choices means I can eat different types of food. I am an avid food love - a foodie, if you will. I will look out to see if they have sushi, fried rice, nuggets and snacks! 

Other people may have different criteria from me. Ultimately, I think everyone will choose a school that best suits their needs. As for me, my choice boils down to proximity, school programmes and food choices!

[S] The first consideration is distance. [E] I do not like to travel because I feel that it is such a waste of time and time is very precious. As such, I would prefer a school that is located near my house. Best, if it is located in my neighbourhood. [E] This way, my time can be better spent in doing more productive work like reading and my hobby. [S] That is why my first consideration is distance. 

Next, my second consideration is the CCAs offered by the school. I believe in the importance of holistic development and as such, I would like opportunities to hone my soft skills like teamwork, public speaking and creative and critical thinking. This is why my second consideration is the choice of CCA.

I  know the hours are longer in Secondary school so I would not want to add travel time to it as well. I would like to ensure I have enough time to come home, rest and do my work.
Also CCAs are very important in secondary school as it allows us to develop in other important ways. Things like teamwork, leadership and perseverance. Also good CCA performance can be used to help in the progress after secondary school. That is why these are my two most important considerations.

Personally, I do not like to travel long distances. I understand from my elder brother that there are many activities in Secondary School as such school ends late. I do not want to waste time travelling from one end to another. I would prefer to spend at most half an hour to travel to and fro.

2. Friends from Primary School
I am an introverted person so going to a school where I can see my friends from primary school will be beneficial for me. I know that not all my friends may go to the same Secondary School as me but at least seeing some of them would be comforting for me.

3. CCA
My interest lies in taking part in water sports as such I would like to go to a school where they offer water sports as a CCA. I understand not many schools offer water sports as a CCA but I would like to still try looking for one with water sports.

In conclusion, my choice of school will depend on the distance, friendship and CCA.

My aunt has shared with me her sleep deprivation during her secondary school years when she had to travel more than an hour from her home to her school daily. I've also learnt that having sufficient sleep is essential for our body growth and memory. Thus, I would choose a school that requires a maximum of 15-minute travel time.

My second consideration would be the niche CCA the school offers. Currently, I am very involved in basketball. Other than representing the school team in the National School Games, I train under the ActiveSg Academy on Saturdays. It would be great for me to continue to improve my skills and teamplay in basketball and contribute to my secondary school in an area that I am talented in. Therefore, a school that has basketball as its niche CCA would be my top choice.

Lastly, I would like to go to a school where my good friends are going as well. My closest friends are also my basketball teammates. It would be perfect if we can continue to train and play together.
