Chlorine Rinse: Place the sand, stones, and pebbles in separate containers and thoroughly rinse each with water containing a small amount of chlorine to disinfect them. Rinse them repeatedly until the water runs clear.

Freshwater Rinse: Submerge the sand in freshwater and stir it vigorously to remove residual chlorine. Drain and repeat this process several times until the chlorine smell removed.

Saltwater Rinse: Soak the sand in the filtered seawater, stirring to ensure thorough mixing. Saltwater rinsing aids in disinfecting the tank. Saltwater, particularly at specific concentrations, can help kill certain pathogens, bacteria, or parasites that might be present, contributing to a cleaner and safer environment for aquatic life. Rinse the sand with freshwater again to eliminate excess salt until the water becomes clear and free of any debris.

Before engaging in actual breeding, I had two preliminary practical sessions. The first breeding practice took place on Week 2, November 2. I successfully facilitated the mating of male and female fish, resulting in the production of eggs. However, due to my limited experience and the provision of suboptimal food, I fed them algae and artemia cysts, leading to an exceptionally low survival rate. Approximately 96 fry were born, but in the end, only one survived.

The second breeding attempt took place on November 17, 2023. This time, a different diet was introduced, incorporating live feed Artemia, and the survival rate improved significantly compared to the last attempt. However, it is speculated that the transition into the rainy and monsoon periods, coupled with the possible incomplete recovery of broodstock, leads to a significant increase in mortality in the first few days after hatching. Although 81 fry were initially expected, only 21 survived.
