Origin:

Betta splendens originated from Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam

Habitat:

They live in ditches, rice paddies, shallow pools and slow moving streams

Environment:

Freshwater; benthopelagic; pH range: 6.0 - 8.0; dH range: 5 - 19. Tropical; 24°C - 30°C

Physical characteristics:

Betta fish have stunning, colorful fins that flow gracefully. They come in vibrant shades like red, blue, green, and more. These fish can breathe air from the water's surface, thanks to a special organ called the labyrinth.

Biology characteristics:

• Feed on zooplankton, mosquito and other insect larvae.

• Facultative air-breathing

• Bubbles nest builder

Reproduction and mating behavior:

• Mating begins with the male Betta building a nest of bubbles. To build this nest, the male swims to the surface, takes a gulp of air and spits out a mucus-coated air bubble

• The male very aggressively pursues the female, attempting to entice her under the nest.

• After spawning has occured, the bubble-nest then is guarded by male

• Taking care of the eggs until the young hatch 24 to 48 hours later,depending upon the water temperature

1. Clear the tank: Empty the tanks by removing all the sand, small stones, and large stones from the previous tank. Then, transfer these materials into the appropriately labeled prepared tank.

   
   

2. Filter Cleaning: Remove the filter and gently scrub it using a sponge dipped in a solution of salt and freshwater. Ensure thorough cleaning by scrubbing all surfaces and components of the filter. Rinse it well afterward.

   
   

3. Aeration Set Cleaning: Clean the aeration set components by utilizing brushes to scrub the tube. Afterward, replace the existing air pump tubing with new, clear tubing, such as an oxygen soft pump hose or PVC tube.

   
   

4. Tank Cleaning: Clean the tank interior by scrubbing its surfaces with a sponge, removing any debris or impurities from the walls, base, and accessories. Start by rinsing with chlorine water, followed by thorough rinses with seawater and freshwater for disinfection before setting it up again.

• Acquired a Delta betta (male) from Harish (Aquaculture student) in the hatchery. (Ornamental purpose）

6. No feeding for 1st day of culture as it was adapting to the environment. Hastily feeding can lead to indigestion.

• Provide pellet feedings twice daily

• Add 2-3 drops of vitamin supplement during each feeding

• 10 drops of immune booster after change or top up water

  
  

The fish was temporarily being taken care of by friends.

1. Snow-white stones - Winter

2. Wheat-colored stones - Spring

• Role Design: Mimicking the rejuvenation of all creatures in spring.

• Significance: Brought a lively feeling, symbolizing renewal and hope, injecting vitality into the tank for spring.

3. Mixed black-brown stones - Autumn

• Role Design: Created an effect similar to autumn leaves covering the ground, arranged as autumn leaves or a small stream.

• Significance: Created a tranquil autumn atmosphere, reflecting the tranquility and maturity of nature in autumn.

4. Gray stones - Rainy Season

• Role Design: Formed patterns resembling raindrops or simulated the surface of wet rocks.

• Significance: Infused inspiration for the rainy season, conveying the freshness and cleansing of nature during this season.

5. Beige sand - Summer

• Role Design: Created beach or desert landscapes under the sunlight.

• Significance: Introduced the warmth and relaxation of summer, making the entire aquarium feel like a beach in the scorching summer.
