I would share the strategy for kernel sentences. I believe all students could benefit from this strategy and it can especially help lower lever students get their ideas down on paper. I would choose only one or two of the strategies to share and focus on doing well within our school, probably the sentence expansion activity. Some of them are more geared towards different grades, so maybe also doing a jigsaw where the upper grades work more on the more advanced strategies and the lower grades do the sequencing one or one of the other simpler ones.

As the Literacy Coach on site, I would attend the ELD meeting and share the current cycles of writing development we have unpacked (because/but/so, appositive, sentence expansion) and see how our experienced ELD teachers could incorporate these strategies during their push-in/pull-out services. I would like to also elevate their experience and expertise and see what further scaffolds MLs could find beneficial.

I am going to infuse in my teaching using the 4 sentence forms: declarative, imperative, interrogative and exclamatory. Writing examples and vocal usage of these structures to ensure comprehension. Allow students to make punctuation and grammatical mistakes because this step will open the door to revision.
