According to  authors Zoe Lowery , and Jacqueline Ching in their book they argue. "If they weren't killed outright, non-Serb refugees were rounded up and taken to one of the many concentration camps, where detainees were beaten and half-starved." The Muslims lives during this genocide were horrible.

In her book Christian  Jennings believes "Serbs trashed and looted their homes.  Muslims were shot in front of the police station.  People in wheelchairs were burned alive in their homes." During that time, Tito managed to maintain peace among the Croats, Serbs, and Muslims. After his death there was an economic crisis that led to tensions between the different groups." Once their leader died Bosnia was unsettled. 

In Bosnia and Herzegovina from Gale Virtual Reference Library it concluded that "The Serbian and Croatian parties each wanted a temporary confederation as a transition to unification with their "mother state" of Serbia or Croatia. The Muslim Party favored a united Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ultimately war broke out among the parties."  The disagreement between the parties lead to this genocide.

In opinion of author Michael Haas he agrees "...ethnic rivalries increased, prompting delegates in the national parliament from Serbia and allied provinces in 1989 to weaken the autonomy of the provinces."
