         <description><![CDATA[<div>Granville Sharp befriended a slave named Jonathan Strong, who had been abused by his owner. Sharp took a succesful case to the lord mayor and freed Jonathan. Sharp then devoted his time to forcing a definitive legal ruling on the question of whether a slave could be compelled to leave Britain.</div>]]></description>
