Grape workers walked out and went on strike against grape growers in Delano,California to protest years of poor conditions and payment. Millions of Americans refused to buy them and finally in 1970, the grape growers agreed to sign the contracts, but it continued for another three years. Chavez said “The fight is never about grapes or lettuce.
