There are loads of resources on here and small videos and songs that will allow children to retain information in a fun and engaging way.

This is very useful for children as it allows them to familiarise themselves with a map and locate different areas, such as, local areas, towns, cities, or countries. It can also allow children a better understanding of distance between 2 points because they physically can drop down to a first person perspective and begin to ‘walk’ along the way. This also allows the student to investigate the human and physical geographical features of the area, identifying what is in the landscape, types of building - which they may contrast and compare from the geographical features in their local area.

Using Google Earth, which attains a compass, children may also be able to familiarise themselves with the points of a compass, and may even begin to locate areas from an origin point using the points of a compass, for example, the local town centre is southwest from my school

Worksheets and class discussion can be stimulated from clips from the shows.

Google earth is an excellent resource as it shows itself as much more advanced than other mapping softwares, allowing the students more range in densities and graphs. The use of Google earth to understand global dimension is highly efficient as it not only builds on landmarks and finding certain locations, but also allows you to view this in different volumes as opposed to just the location. With this 3D feature, it is beneficial for the kids as it brings more options for teaching and allows for greater opportunities when teaching geography.

Oak national academy website is very easy to navigate as a website and the website does include lots of resources that cover all areas and link with key parts of the geography national curriculum.

They include threads from human and physical processes which link directly with the national curriculum.

This website also covers all bases when it comes to different years making sure every year from KS1 and KS2. In per unit for lesson for different years they provide examples of lessons for pupils and also look at how the lesson would affect a students learning and understanding for that lesson and for future learning.

The lessons are very easy for pupils to access as it provides different years and units for students to highlight and look at which is also very handy for teachers as well.
