Thursday Treats

The last Thursday of every month staff members bring in treats, baked goods or store-bought items to the staffroom. Rota is on noticeboard in the staffroom.

Email

Every staff member will have a school gmail address for all school related activities.

Planning templates

We use fortnightly planning templates with pre-populated learning outcomes. Please consult with Yvonne Lynch to receive the relevant planning template.

Sensory Corners

We use sensory corners in each classroom as a quiet space for children to self-regulate, take a break from learning or to help with socio-emotional issues. Please consult with Barbara Deasy for more information.

Croke Park meetings occur on Tuesdays from 3pm - 4pm. These are usually front-loaded at the beginning of the year, allowing for staff CPD and additional staff planning for the year ahead. Staff contribute to Croke Park suggested visitors/topics based on the needs of the school.

Photocopier

You will need to connect your school laptop to the WiFi Toshiba printer and receive a unique code to enter to retrieve your printing. Please ask Mary in the office to assist with this.

Assemblies

Assemblies are held once a month in the Hall or outside (weather permitting). Each senior class takes a turn leading the assembly, identifying the focus for the month from our Purpose Tree, acknowledging achievements and birthdays of pupils in our school, and discussing religious events or Saints that impact our school community. Many of our school committees contribute to the assemblies such as the Green Team and the Student Council. If you have something you wish to include in the Assembly, please speak to Sarah O Mahony.

Mentors

We operate a mentoring system in Goggins Hill NS to help ease the transition for new staff upon their arrival to our school. Please speak to a member of the ISL team (Ms Burke, Ms. O Mahony, Ms. Deasy, Ms. Lynch or Ms. Keyes) for information on who your mentor will be.

Social Committee

We have a very active social committee who acknowledge personal milestones amongst our staff and also support one another through challenging circumstances. Money is collected termly or when needed to cover the costs of presents, meals, cards, flowers etc.

Aladdin Connect

We use Aladdin connect for communicating with parents and staff members using the notice feature or by email. It is also used for scheduling parent teacher meetings in November and for sending school reports in June.

Timetables

Please upload your timetable to our Google Drive once you are settled in and familiar with the routine of your day. It is very important to have these centralised if and when cover is required.

Displays

Please don’t feel the walls need to be covered in September. Build these over time with your class. Display their artwork, handwriting or photos of work throughout the year to give a snapshot of the wonderful learning happening in the classroom.

Maths

Our SSE focus this year is on Maths and how we are engaging and implementing the new PMC. We have introduced Maths Talk and maths journals in all classes. Junior Classes are using new schemes in line with the new PMC and STEM equipment such as LEGO Spike boxes and Bee Bots have been purchased to use in all classes to promote cognitively challenging tasks. Mathletics is used from 1st Class up to integrate Maths learning with technology. For more information, please speak to Yvonne Lynch or Cathy Sands.
