In November 1941, Adolf Eichmann (SS-Obersturmbannführer) organized the first deportations of German Jews to Minsk (Belarus), beginning on November 8 with a transport from Berlin. Additional trains followed from cities like Hamburg and Frankfurt. Eichmann’s office coordinated these transports, knowing the victims would be killed, often by mass shootings carried out by SS and Einsatzgruppen units. To make room for the incoming Germans, about 13,000 local Jews in Minsk were forced to dig pits and were murdered on November 7, in cold blood.

The massacre of Babyn Yar occured in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

After German invasion of Kyiv, two major explosions occured from soviet land mines, however the Germans used this as a pre text to murder the remaining Jewish residents.

These victims were gathered from their homes , assembly points or hiding places and forced to undress and enter a ravine where they were shot in small groups by Sonderkommando 4a, a special detachment from Einsatzgruppe C under SS-Standartenführer Paul Blobel.

33,771 Jews were massacred during this two-day period.

Operation harvest fesitval was conducted in the German occupied east and ordered by SS chief Heinrich Himmler but was perpatrated by SS and police units. The remaining 45,000 jewish prisoners of the Lublin district where ordered to be murdered and approximetly 42,000 of those were killed. on November 3, 1943 the Trawniki and Poniatowa labour camps were surrounded and the jews were marched to pre dug pits whish they were shot in. At Majdanek and Trawniki, the killing opperation was completed in a single day, at Poniatowa it lasted two days. "Erntefest" was the largest German-perpatrated masscre of the holocaust.

The Einsatzgruppen operated across Ukraine, most notably the Babi Yar massacre near Kyiv, as well as in Kharkiv.
